Wills & Probate

We offer a number of essential, people orientated services, to assist in the inevitable (but nevertheless unwelcome) realities of life that start from our entry into the world. Our experience is based upon many years of dealing, realistically but sympathetically, with problems that most people will only meet infrequently. That experience enables us to help you navigate through the formalities and bureaucracy that can be both frightening and intimidating.

We have particular experience in the areas of:

  • Wills – to ensure that the people you want to benefit share your estate on your death (for example children of a previous marriage).
  • Probate – the administration of your estate in accordance with your will after your death.
  • Intestacy (where someone dies without a will) - to make certain that the people entitled by law take your estate.
  • Variations – the tax efficient way of rewriting wills, or the intestacy provisions, on terms agreed by the family.
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney – to enable your personal affairs to be properly dealt with in the event of your incapacity.
  • Care of the elderly – safeguarding the interests of those who may be unable, or unwilling, to ensure that their own interests are properly cared for, including the proper entitlement to benefits.
  • Court of Protection – the appointment of a Deputy to deal with the affairs of someone, regardless of age, who lacks the mental capacity to deal with their own affairs either as a result of illness, disability or accident.

In all cases we tailor our advice to reflect the realities of the individual circumstances and not just provide the textbook solution, which may be inappropriate when taken in isolation.

We will always provide an indication of the costs and expenses likely to be incurred, at the outset of, and at appropriate stages throughout the matter.

PS Sorry to have to mention death but, after taxes, it is as has been said before, the only certainty!
